The reviews are like a cancer but I will be honest with you. If I were an owner of the resort I will do the same thing to the guests. You see the same thing happens in every resort in the Caribbean, WHY??
Usually they are North Americans, getting an all inclusive vacation for 7 days at $900 in the same resort.
These guest basically pay $300 for plane, $300 for the operator plus travel agent who set up the vacation and $300 for the resort.
Now imagine $300 for 7 days all inclusive average, $43 per day including all meals and drinks. They give them (sorry for my expression) the shitiest rooms the resort has.
I am practically in Buffalo and Miami every week for business. Can you please tell me what can I get for $43 a day? maybe room under a bridge.
So everything said and done, you get a nice little suite, with balcony overlooking the Caribbean sea, rooms that the tourist birds (as we call them) never can get. They get a ground floor, facing the swimming pool, noisy and worst dark with everything broken. That happens not only in DR but in every single Island unless you get an expensive all inclusive.
